If I Were a Drinker

(1) (G)Should have told her more I(C)loved her. (C)I should have spent more time at(G)home. (G)Should haves really aren't(C)important. (C)Since the fact is now she's(D)gone. (G)Wish I had listened to my(C)consience. (C)When it said don't let her(G)go. (G)And if she wonders what i'm(C)doin', (B)Then i think she ought to(C)know. (2) (G)That I find myself(C)drinkin' (C)More that I ever did(G)before. (G)And i find my heart keeps(A)breakin'. (E)Each time her memory slams the(D)door. (D)And I find myself(C)cryin' (C)And trying to hold(B)on. (G)There ain't nothing short of(C)dying. (D)That's worse tham being left(G)alone. (3) Thought I'd be just fine without her, I'd be happy a free man. But the hurt inside and lonesome, Is what I didn't understand. And the lessons I have learned, I am learning awful well. Nights I used to spend in heavan Have been replaced by nights of hell. (repeat 2) There ain't nothing short of dying worse than being left alone.
