Em C GD I grew up in a small town out in the country Em C G B7 I never had much and I was often hungry Em C G D My dad he died young and I had to be strong Em C G B7 But I was a child that didn't get along Em C G D I tried to get up but I always fell down Em C G B7 This twisted society has dragged me around Em C G D You made me the man that I am today Em C G B7 But I never wanted to live my life this way Em C G D I had a bad reputation that never burned out Em C G B7 And the teachers in school they had no doubt Em C G D As they said I'm a looser and I won't get that far Em C G B7 And so I dropped out of school and played my guitar Em C G D I tried to get up but I always fell down Em C G B7 This twisted society has dragged me around Em C G D You made me the man that I am today Em C G B7 But I never wanted to live my life this way
