Album: Strange Geometry
Song: E.M.P.T.Y.
Tabbed by: Jimbob - jimbobriley@gmail.com
As with the other Clientele tabs, you need to add a few
embellishments due to the picking. On the normal E chord during
the chorus Alistair seems to use his little finger on the high
E string to pick out the 4th and 2nd frets.
The E* means play with the 7th fret barre version of the chord.
Also use your little finger here in the chorus to pick out some
of those high notes further up the neck. The B(sus4) chord
means alternate between B and Bsus4 (fairly obvious in the
track).

When I'm riding home at night now
BEAE
I get in so tired
BEAE
To the saws and bows that spell out

E-M-P-T-Y
----------
B E* F#
But driving west now
E* B
Half-past five
E* F#
My skin is cut
E* B
My hands are knives
E* F# E* B
I could be anyone alive
EAE
But I just can't fit
BEAE
And it's too late to quit
----------
Chorus:
E* B(sus4)
When the night air comes to me
E
I wonder if the days I've lived through count
E* B(sus4)
With the world strung like a rosary
E
Through faces moving in the crowd
----------
AEB(sus4)
What is the color and the number
E
When happiness begins?
AEB(sus4)
When the knight waits in the laurels
F#(low) E
Hesitating...
----------
| C# |
B
I found a clarity I've never known
EAE
In fag-end weeks before I left for school
C#
The darkness in the pylons
B
And the smoke and creosote
EAE
Cancelling the faces that we knew

Solo:
| E | (freak out on the E chord)
----------
B E* F# E* B
Did they forget the light inside your eyes?
E* F# E* B
Those simple words, those lovers' signs?
E* F# E* B
The hand is dealt, the cards are played
EAE
But I just can't fit
BEAE
And it's too late to quit
----------
Chorus:
E* B(sus4)
I saw them, and I knew them all
E
Inside a sheet of flame
E* B(sus4)
I saw them, and I knew them all
E
Inside a sheet of flame
----------
BEAE
When I'm riding home at night now
BEAE
I get in so tired
BEAE
To the saws and bows that spell out
