BONNY BLACK HARE
AmCGAm
On the 14th of May at the dawn of the day
AmCFAm
With me gun on me shoulder to the woods I did stray
AmCGAm
In search of some game if the weather proved fair
AmCFAm
And to see could I get a shot at the bonny black hare.
AAm
Well I met a young girl there with her face as a rose
AmCFAm
And her skin was a fair as the lily that grows
AmCGAm
I said ??Me fair maiden why ramble you so??
AmCFAm
Can you tell me where the bonny black hare do go????
AmCGAm
Oh the answer she gave me her answer was ??No
AmCFAm
But it??s under me apron they say it do go
AmCGAm
And if you??ll not deceive me I vow and declare
AmCFAm
We??ll both go together to hunt the bonny black hare.??
AmCGAm
Well I lay this girl down with her face to the sky
AmCFAm
And I took out me ramrod and me bullets likewise
AmCGAm
I said ??Lock your legs round me and dig in with your heels
AmCFAm
For the closer we get, oh the better it feels.??
AmCGAm
Well the birds they were singing in the bushes and trees
AmCFAm
And the song that they sang was ??She??s easy to please.??
AmCGAm
I felt her heart quiver and I knew what I??d done
AmCFAm
Said I ??Have you had enough of me old sporting gun????
AmCGAm
Well the answer she gave me her answer was ??Nay
AmCFAm
It??s not often young sportsmen like you come this way
AmCGAm
And if your powder is willing and your bullets play fair
AmCFAm
Why don??t you keep firing at the bonny black hare????
AmCGAm
??Well me powder is wasted and my bullets all gone
AmCFAm
Me ramrod is limp and I cannot fire on
AmCGAm
But I??ll be back in the morning and if you are still here
AmCFAm
We??ll both go together again to hunt the bonny black hare.
